Some might say that confusion is a bad thing. But in the development of treatments for Covid-19 it is to be expected.
Thus, the following:
On 28 February the BMJ published an article citing a study from China with 44,672 confirmed cases of Covid-19 showing the high case fatality rate for those with hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and being over 70 years of age.
The article notes that angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARBs) are used to treat hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. It suggests that the virus may bind to ARBs and give poorer outcomes for Covid-19. And it suggests perhaps that patients taking these drugs should be taken off them temporarily if/when they are proved to be infected.

In contrast to that, today 19th Match, Reuter's reports that Losartan (an ARB) is being trialed as a possible treatment.

This is daunting as for example I take Immunosupressants, Losartan and some other pills for my kidney transplant and high blood pressure. Keeps them all under control very well. However leaves me vulnerable to skin cancers and now as it transpires, Coronavirus. It’s for this reason I started self-isolating before we were instructed to. It’s tough but good for my writing!
